Welcome to the Gosport Half Marathon, brought to you by Gosport Road Runners and a venue for the Hampshire Road Race League.
Our last race was held in good condition, and we are hoping for the same this year.
It is a club policy that no Gosport Road Runner participates in the race. This maximises the manpower numbers available to cover the many tasks on the day. Our team of over 180 volunteers have worked hard to put on this event.
We consider it a way of thanking other clubs for hosting events for us throughout the rest of the year. Surplus profits from this event enable Gosport Road Runners to donate approximately £13,000 each year to local good causes.
Gosport Road Runners would like to thank Alexandra Sports, Solent Sports Injury Clinic, Develotec, R.O.M Scaffolding, Gosport Hospital Radio, Huhtamaki, Bodiworks and the Hovercraft Museum for their support in making this event possible.
Your views are very important for making continuous improvement. Please use the link to our Facebook site to review the race which will be read by other runners and our club membership or just email your thoughts to:
Our main race car park is signposted from the B3333 Privett Road and is situated on private land in Browndown Road.
The car park will not be open until 8.00 am. Please note that this car park has a limited capacity, it will fill up quickly, please car-share when you can.
Once full, the car park will be closed and all other cars will be redirected to the seafront car parks in Stokes Bay.
Exiting the car park while the race is still underway may be slow at first, if you want a quick getaway after the race it is suggested that you park in Stokes Bay (see below)
Browndown car park closes at 2 pm, please remove your car before this time.
Car parking on the school grounds, Browndown Road, or Gomer Lane is not permitted.
Alternative parking is at Stokes Bay where there are several large car-parks, charged by the hour (Long Stay -more than two hours).
There is also plenty of spectator parking along the seafront at Lee-on-the-Solent and new to this year, The Hovercraft Museum with free entry and parking behind (off Daedalus Drive).
